to convert a redundant petrol station site in cambridge, the site owners' previous residential planning attempts had failed. we collaborated with savills, who recommended student accommodation for the site. cambridge city council instantly agreed on our original urban design, site layout and plans for a student accommodation scheme.

converting the previous mc donald site in Cambridge to a residential scheme

to convert this previous restaurant site within the settings of university buildings, we both referred to the university building environment and created various residential components by offsetting different 'building blocks', combined with a variety of different materials including cambridge brick. the green outside space with 'global art' emphasizes the building in its setting.
